Two policemen have reportedly been injured and an unknown gunman killed during an attack by 12 militiamen on the police station of Bindisi, Central Darfur.<\/p>\n

Sources in Bindisi told Radio Dabanga that on Tuesday evening around 10pm about 12 militiamen attacked the Bindisi police station, apparently to steal weapons, ammunition and vehicles.<\/p>\n

According to witnesses, the police at the station exchanged shots, which resulted in the death of one of the attackers and the injury of two policemen: corporal Juma Musa and policeman Mohamed Abakir. The two critically injured police officers have been rushed to the hospital of Garsila for treatment.<\/p>\n

Residents of the Bindisi camps for the displaced have expressed their fears of insecurity since militias in the region reportedly are redirecting their attacks. Instead of assaulting displaced people tending their farms, they now seem to target towns and police stations.<\/p>\n
