In reported protection of a large convoy moving from El Fasher to Nyala, the Sudan Air Forces have bombed several locations in East Jebel Marra on Friday morning and afternoon. An Antonov aircraft dropped bombs until 2pm local time, in the areas of Kondororo Mountain, Sherba Mountain and Dulma village. The large convoy consisted of more than 200 vehicles including some fuel tankers.<\/p>\n

Eyewitnesses told Radio Dabanga that there were no human casualties, but that at least 25 camels and over 50 cows were killed by the random bombing. In the early afternoon, the convoy arrived in Shangil Tobay town.<\/p>\n

Convoys usually are protected by the Sudanese Armed Forces in armoured vehicles and machine artillery. With the convoy moving on Friday, the soldiers have been firing several rounds in the direction of Tangarara, Sharfa and Dulma village. Residents of these villages told Radio Dabanga that they had to seek hiding places in the mountains.<\/p>\n

A source told Radio Dabanga that the population of East Jebel Marra has not received any humanitarian assistance in the past five years, since the area is controlled by rebel troops. “The government of Khartoum does not allow relief organisations to provide humanitarian assistance to the rebel-controlled population, despite their great needs,” she added. <\/p>\n
