During renewed clashes between the Salamat and Misseriya tribes on Monday in the area of Malwi, on the border between the localities of Umm Dukhun, Central Darfur, and Rahad El Berdi, South Darfur, a number of people were reportedly killed and others injured.<\/p>\n

Witnesses from areas near the fighting told Radio Dabanga that they continuously heard bullet shots and reverberations of cannons shooting until sunset.<\/p>\n

A local official from Umm Dukhun town reported to Radio Dabanga that the Sudanese Commissioner of Umm Dukhun locality, the Chadic governor of the bordering Tissi province, representatives from the security forces and the police of both sides and the Joint Sudanese-Chadic Forces convened a meeting on Monday in Umm Dukhun from 3pm until late in the evening in order to discuss the security situation on the Sudanese-Chadic border, and in particular the clashes between Salamat and Misseriya.<\/p>\n
