On Monday, militiamen reportedly blocked the road leading to El Salam camp for the displaced in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, as well as roads in the bordering areas of Kashalingo and Tabaldiaat on Monday. Military aircraft are continuously circling above these areas.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, Sheikh Mahjoub Adam Tabaldiya of El Salam camp reported that militiamen have spread around the road linking the camp with the city of Nyala as well as in the areas of Kashalingo and Tabaldiaat, while military forces have been stationed in the area of Kashalingo near Nyala. He added that military aircraft continue to circle the region for the third day in a row.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Tabaldiya expressed his fears that the areas will be bombed and that the crops cultivated by the displaced in those areas will be set on fire.<\/p>\n

He added that the militia troops assault the displaced who try to use the roads, causing them to stay inside the camp. He appealed to the authorities to act to protect the displaced from assaults.<\/p>\n

Also in South Darfur, militiamen driving land cruisers allegedly killed at least five citizens on Friday and Saturday when they drove through the villages of Gishteera, Ishma and Darraba in the locality of Bielel, firing their weapons.<\/p>\n

Dozens of villagers were injured during the attacks, and property and livestock stolen. The names of the dead: Mohamed Abdelrasoul Ali (35), Mohamed Abakir Abdallah (37), El Tayeb Younis Abdelrahman (40), Ahmed Salih (30) and Ibrahim Younis El Nour (35).<\/p>\n
