{"id":186815,"date":"2013-10-10T14:22:00","date_gmt":"2013-10-10T14:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dabangasudan.preview.websight.nl\/women-discuss-implementation-of-doha-document-in-north-darfur\/"},"modified":"2013-10-10T14:22:00","modified_gmt":"2013-10-10T14:22:00","slug":"women-discuss-implementation-of-doha-document-in-north-darfur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/women-discuss-implementation-of-doha-document-in-north-darfur","title":{"rendered":"Women discuss implementation of Doha Document in North Darfur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday, about 40 women &#8211; representatives of civil society organisations in North Darfur &#8211; participated in a workshop on the implementation of provisions of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) relating to women.<\/p>\n<p>The objectives of the workshop, organised on in state capital El Fasher by Unamid\u2019s Gender Advisory Unit, were to facilitate initial discussions towards developing a clear and unified position of Darfuri women on all issues related to DDPD implementation, establish a framework for future consultations and dialogue with women on the peace process, and strengthen relations among women&#8217;s groups.<\/p>\n<p>The participants highlighted the need for more capacity building, training, construction and funding of women&#8217;s centres in various localities; to create space to continue the peace dialogue. They also called for more meetings between the women&#8217;s associations and the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA), more representation of women in peace negotiations, as well as women\u2019s participation in the dialogue and reconciliation efforts of the <em>Ajaweed<\/em> (Council of community leaders).<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the session, the Chief of the Unamid Gender Unit, Yegerawork Angagaw, said that the DDPD addresses security, political, social and economic issues which are fundamental bases for any sustainable peace process. These goals can be achieved through continuous dialogue amongst different groups.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Unamid Gender Unit recognises that women&#8217;s civil society groups in Darfur have played a significant role in the Darfur peace process, particularly in terms of reconciliation and delivery of services to victims.
