The Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) rebel coalition congratulated the Sudanese people on the occasion of Eid el Adha and offered its condolences to the relatives of the demonstrators killed. The SRF expressed its hope that the coming year will be \u201cthe last sorrowful year.\u201d<\/p>\n
The leader of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) and Deputy President of the SRF, Dr Jibril Ibrahim, told Radio Dabanga that \u201cthe days are counted for the Al Bashir regime, since everyone of the SRF is determined to topple it. The next year, we don\u2019t want our presidents to slaughter our people, and then go on pilgrimage to Mecca.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ibrahim added that \u201cWe prefer the Sudanese citizens to be able to slaughter a sheep during the Eid el Adha instead of having the regime slaughter their sons.\u201d<\/p>\n
The leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement-Minni Minawi (SLM-MM) and Deputy President of the SRF, Minni Minawi also hopes that this Eid will be the last year during which the Sudanese in general and the displaced people and refugees in particular are suffering. He offered his condolences to all families who have lost a son in Khartoum, Nyala, or anywhere else in the Sudan.<\/p>\n
Minawi, via Radio Dabanga, asked all Sudanese to be patient. \u201cWe assure them that we are close to victory and that the toppling of the regime is only a matter of time.\u201d<\/p>\n
El Tom Haju, a Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) leader and Deputy President of the SRF, congratulated all the Sudanese people on the occasion of Eid. He told Radio Dabanga that the \u201cregime of murderers\u201d will soon be overthrown.<\/p>\n
The leader of the National Umma Party (NUP), Imam el Sadiq el Mahdi, affirmed in Omdurman, during a sermon on the occasion of the Eid \u201cthe readiness of the opposition forces to meet the armed movements of the SRF, anytime and anywhere, in order to coordinate actions for the sake of peace and democracy and the preservation of the unity of Sudan.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Imam called on all political forces to agree on a new system that will replace the existing government after it has been overthrown. He stressed that the NUP \u201cbacks the toppling of the regime by peaceful opposition.\u201d<\/p>\n
