The head of the former rebel group Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM), on the occasion of Eid el Adha, appeals to all Darfuris to renounce conflicts, clashes and adhere to peace. Dr Tijani Sese expressed hope that peace and security would prevail in Darfur.<\/p>\n

The Spokesman for the LJM, the state minister of the cabinet, Ahmed Fadul, reported to Radio Dabanga that security arrangements for its forces, currently stationed in camps, will start directly after the Eid holiday.<\/p>\n

In Mecca, Dr Sese called on the Darfuri pilgrims to \u200b\u200bpromote coherence between the region’s tribes, and to reject tribalism and fanaticism. \u201cThe meanings and aims of the pilgrimage, which call for peace and stability, tolerance and forgiveness, should be implemented in reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Sudanese pilgrims will begin their return on Saturday via air and the sea ports of Jeddah and Medina. More than 3,300 people are expected to be transported via Jeddah and more than 1,800 via Medina.<\/p>\n

The LJM is signatory to the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD), which was signed in Qatar in 2011. According to the security arrangements in the Document, former rebel fighters are entitled to be absorbed into the national armed forces or to be assigned to political posts.<\/p>\n

However, there has subsequently been frequent criticism surrounding the pace of implementation of the Document\u2019s provisions. In April the delays prompted Sese to threaten to suspend the LJM\u2019s participation in the government.<\/p>\n
