Birds have allegedly ruined \u200b\u200bmore than 1,000 acres of farmland planted with millet and maize in the area of Esheraya, Yassin locality, in East Darfur.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, farmers from the area reported that large swarms of birds have completely destroyed this year\u2019s crops of millet and maize. They added that beans are the only crop that remains.<\/p>\n

The farmers accuse the agricultural administration of Yassin locality and East Darfur state of being the cause of the damage to their crops.<\/p>\n

According to them the authorities disregarded their concerns and complaints for nearly a month. The sprays used by aircrafts did not eliminate the birds, which now roost in larg numbers in the region’s woods.<\/p>\n

The farmers demand via Radio Dabanga from the agricultural administration of Yassin locality and East Darfur state to compensate for the loss of the agricultural season.<\/p>\n
