The leader of the National Umma Party (NUP) in Sudan, El Sadig El Mahdi, is to enter into talks with the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) to oust the government of Omar Al Bashir.<\/p>\n

According to a statement by the SRF, El Mahdi will meet the SRF leaders in Kampala, capital of Uganda, in the coming days. It will be the first time that the leadership of SRF meets with the NUP leader and former Prime Minister of Sudan.<\/p>\n

For the occasion, the SRF will come together for the first time since it was founded in 2011 as a coalition of several armed rebel groups, including SPLM-N, JEM, SLM-Abdel Wahid, SLM-Minni Minawi, as well as political opposition parties united in the National Consensus Forces. Recently the United Popular Front, a coalition of eastern Sudanese factions, also joined the SRF.<\/p>\n

The Spokesperson for the SRF, Abulgasim Imam eE Haj, told Radio Dabanga that El Mahdi will travel together with NUP Secretary General Dr Ibrahim El Amin.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe talks will reinforce the will of the people in Sudan for change: The meeting will express the will of the protesters who were killed during the demonstrations in September. The SRF will unite all opposition parties who want to kick out the regime in order to establish a real democracy, creating unity amongst all Sudanese without leaving anyone out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The SRF will also organise meetings with other political parties, women\u2019s and civil society organisations to unite against the government.<\/p>\n

Mubarak El Fadil El Mahdi, who left the Bashir-government to re-join the NUP, welcomed the meeting. He said the NUP leader should implement the desire of the entire party to oust the government in a peaceful manner – which should be outlined in a new agreement with the SRF.<\/p>\n

The ruling National Congress Party (NCP) of president Omar Al Bashir has a different take on the talks between the NUP and the SRF. On El Shorooq TV<\/em>, a senior NCP member, Mohamed El Hassan El Amin said he hopes El Mahdi will \u201cpress the rebel groups to stop their armed opposition against Khartoum\u201d.<\/p>\n
