Militiamen have reportedly abducted three people in North Darfur and are demanding a ransom of SDG500,000 ($112,500).<\/p>\n

Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that on Friday about 12 gunmen in two Land Cruisers mounted with machine guns halted a commercial vehicle en route from Kabkabiya town to Saraf Omra. They seized the vehicle, its driver and two passengers, and drove them to an unknown location.<\/p>\n

The witnesses said that the gunmen later contacted the relatives of the abductees and demanded SDG500,000 for the release of Ibrahim Ali Mohamed, Adam Mohamed Ali, and Muhamed Musa Mohamed.<\/p>\n

Separately, troops of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), stationed at the gate of the city of Kutum, reportedly fired on a commercial vehicle on its way to El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur. The driver of the vehicle, Adam Osman, was critically injured and transferred to El Fasher hospital for treatment. <\/p>\n

A witness told Radio Dabanga that the troops fired at the vehicle because it did not stop when they signaled it to do so.<\/p>\n
