The Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) forces of the rebel alliance Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) have allegedly regained control of Kalinji village in the Nuba Mountains, South Kordofan.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, SPLM-N spokesperson Arnu Ngutulu Lodi said that Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) troops and militias re-entered the village of Kalinji in Rashad County on Wednesday. The forces were covered by heavy shelling and aerial bombardments targeting civilians. SPLM-N troops approaching the village this morning to protect the civilians clashed with the SAF troops, \u201cdestroying one military vehicle and inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy\u201d. <\/p>\n

The SPLM-N spokesperson reported that since this morning the SPLM-N forces are in renewed control of the village. \u201cWe will continue pursuing the rest of the SAF forces to their bases and beyond\u201d.<\/p>\n

Lodi affirmed that Kalinji village is not a military base of SRF forces. He reassured the Sudanese people that \u201cthe SPLM-N stands by them in their struggle for peace and justice. Our struggle will continue by various means to uproot the National Congress Party regime and create a new state in which all Sudanese citizens will be equal and their human rights and dignity are respected.\u201d  <\/p>\n

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the SAF announced the \u201cliberation of the area of Kalinji\u201d and the repulsion of \u201cwhat was left of the so-called Revolutionary Front\u201d from the area.<\/p>\n

Col. Sawarmi Khaled Saad, the spokesperson for the SAF, explained that the rebels were using the area as a base to launch attacks on villages in the region targeting citizens and their property. He affirmed that the Sudanese army seized large quantities of weapons and ammunition from the rebels who fled, leaving behind their dead.<\/p>\n
