<\/a> Violent clashes erupted on Wednesday between National Congress Party students and Darfur students, at both Sudan University for Science and Technology in Khartoum, and the University of Kordofan in El Obeid. A number of students from both sides were wounded by the attacks.<\/p>\n

The violence erupted against the backdrop of the university administration\u2019s denial of Darfur students to sit their exams for not paying the registration fees. They reacted with a political speech and discussion corner at the University of Kordofan in El Obeid. During their preparations on Wednesday, students loyal to the National Congress Party (NCP) attacked. Heavily armed militias on cars stormed in and fired their guns inside the campus.<\/p>\n

According to a student of the United Popular Front, who prefers anonymity, 17 students were injured and another two students are missing after the attack in El Obeid’s university. They were still missing on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Vice President El Haj Adam Yousif has instructed the students of the ruling NCP to ban the activities of Darfur students protesting in universities.<\/p>\n

“More protests”<\/strong><\/p>\n

An association of Darfur students in the universities stated on Thursday that they reject \u201cthe division of Darfur students into displaced people and refugees.\u201d Everyone in the region is affected by the war, the students said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn case the universities\u2019 administration continue to refuse free education to all Darfur students, we will enter sit-ins at all universities,\u201d they added. The Darfur students appealed to all the Sudanese students, human rights organisations and journalists to support their cause.<\/p>\n
