At least three people were wounded in fighting at a military barrack in Akobo in South Sudan\u2019s Jonglei State this morning. <\/p>\n
The clash broke out within the ranks of the army on the third day of the national crisis that began with heavy fighting in Juba. <\/p>\n
According to a government source in Juba town, gunshots were heard from about 9am from the military barracks on the outskirts. <\/p>\n
\u201cI can see three wounded men and they are being taken to the hospital,\u201d said the official.<\/p>\n
He was not aware of the number of soldiers who had died in the fighting, and he declined to speculate on the reasons for the clash: \u201cWe don\u2019t know actually what the fighting was about.\u201d<\/p>\n
None of the fighting actually reached into the town, according to the local source.<\/p>\n
As of 2.45pm there were still some random shootings being heard in the area of Akobo, but these were attributed to jubilation or overenthusiasm rather than actual fighting. <\/p>\n
