Dr Tijani Sese, <\/span>head of the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA), has called on the Sudanese rebel movements not to side with any party in the South Sudan conflict, but to rather side with the voice of the people of Darfur and join the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD).<\/span><\/p>\n

He expressed the hope that the surrent conflict in South Sudan does not lead to an influx of refugees to Darfur. \u201cThe poor capabilities of the states of Darfur and the authorities cannot endure any displacement in large numbers\u201d, he said in a press statement on Thursday in El Fasher during the Sudanese Islamic Movement forum.<\/p>\n

Sese also said that the Darfur Regional Authority commission and the committee formed by the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) have begun implementing security arrangements. \u201cThey have prepared a vision to start with the security arrangements. This is an important issue as this year, we would like to begin a transformation to a political party\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

Voluntary return<\/strong><\/p>\n

The head of the DRA explained that the refugee voluntary return projects are still in progress and will be implemented in the next three months. \u201cEspecially the five villages in Qatar which will be completed during the three or four months ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

He stressed that the displaced people and refugees will return to the locations before the rainy season. A training course of community police will be coordinated with the Minister of Interior. \u201cSons of displaced people will be incorporated in the Central Reserve Forces, to secure those areas the refugees will return to and to reassure them.\u201d<\/p>\n
