The Sudanese Committee of Solidarity with the Victims of the September Demonstrations has demanded from the authorities to unconditionally release those protesters who are still detained without charges, or put them to a \u201cfair and lawful trial\u201d.<\/p>\n

Siddig Yousef, the chairman of the Committee told Radio Dabanga that Committee representatives visited Shamseldin El Haj Ahmad El Haj, Arafat Jamal El Din Taher, and Tareg El Sheikh in Shambat, Khartoum North, who were released on Sunday.<\/p>\n

During the visit they discussed the health conditions of the demonstrators detained since the end of September. The three released protesters said that there are still people detained in Kober prison in Khartoum North, among them Ghazi El Sanhouri, Bushra Khamis, a Darfuri student at the Nilein University, and Daoud Kanuna, originally from South Kordofan who was transferred from Delling to Kober prison. There are others whose names have not been listed yet by the Committee still detained in other prisons.<\/p>\n

Yousef stressed that the human rights violations are still continuing. \u201cThe arbitrary arrests, unconstrained by law, custom and morals, of activists and politicians, are ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Early December the National Consensus Forces (NCF, an alliance of opposition parties) announced the formation of a national committee in solidarity with the families of the victims of the September demonstrations. The Solidarity Committee intends to provide psychological, emotional, legal and material support to the families of the victims fallen the different states of Sudan.<\/p>\n

According to the NCF, around 1,000 people were injured and 300 were killed or went missing during the demonstrations that broke out in the last week of September in protest against the government\u2019s removal of fuel subsidies and the resulting price hikes.<\/p>\n
