The refugees of the Gaga refugee camp in eastern Chad will not receive food rations in 2014.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, sheikh Juma reported that the 23,200 Darfuri refugees residing in the camp received reduced food rations from the World Food Programme (WFP) in December and January.<\/p>\n

Representatives of the WFP told the refugees that there is no budget for food rations for the year 2014. The refugees received rations of sorghum, sugar, beans, and oil, all reduced by 75 percent, in December and by 50 percent in January. These rations, paid from WFP\u2019s 2013 budget, were the last ones for the camp.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Juma referred to \u201cthe widows, the elderly and the weak, who will suffer severely from this problem\u201d, and called on the WFP to resume the distribution of food rations as in the past, \u201cby 100 percent\u201d.<\/p>\n
