Militiamen robbed the passengers of a lorry loaded with goods, on the Kutum-Kabkabiya road in North Darfur on Sunday. Not much later, the goods were for sale on the Kabkabiya market.<\/p>\n
One of the passengers told Radio Dabanga that \u201cgovernment-backed gunmen\u201d in three Land Cruisers mounted with Dushka machine guns and others on camels and horses intercepted a lorry in the area of Tirma. The heavily loaded vehicle came from Omdurman and was on its way to Kabkabiya.<\/p>\n
The gunmen beat the passengers and robbed them of all their belongings. They took the lorry loaded with foodstuffs, such as sugar and flour, clothes and shoes, as well as other goods, to the area of Milla at Jebel Si, 38km northeast of Kabkabyia.<\/p>\n
The passenger said that later on Sunday, the gunmen offered the stolen goods, including the belongings of the passengers, for sale at the Kabkabiya market.<\/p>\n
He stressed that the authorities refused to prosecute the perpetrators after the robbery had been reported. They did not act, even when they learned that the goods were for sale at the market.<\/p>\n
