The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North has officially declared its participation in the peace talks in Addis Ababa on Thursday 13 February. \u201cThe government has no way out, except for the comprehensive solution for Sudan’s issues.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yasir Arman, the Secretary-General of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM-N) declared in an interview with Radio Dabanga on Friday that he will lead the delegation consisting of nine people. \u201cFor the first time, the team will include experts from the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) and the political spectrum. They will negotiate with seven government experts in each round of talks.\u201d <\/p>\n

Participants of the delegation are amongst others Dr el Shafee Khidir of the Sudanese Communist Party, Blue Nile political leader Farah Agar, Solomun Jamus of the Justice and Equality Movement, Sudanese human rights activist and member of the Enough Project Omar Gamar Adin Ismail, female activist Mrs Najwa Musa, Andudu Adam Anil, and Mohamed Abdallah Khater.<\/p>\n

Talks will test the NCP<\/strong><\/p>\n

Arman assured that the delegation will go to Addis Ababa with a \u201cvery clear plan to solve all issues of Sudan and in particular the conflict areas, as well as the political and humanitarian issues.\u201d He predicted that the talks will be a real test for the ruling National Congress Party (NCP). \u201cWill President Omar Al Bashir’s earlier remarks come true and is he willing to deal with all political parties, or is he attempting to prolong the process of change?<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat the SPLM-N wants, is to make the convention of 28 June 2011 to be a springboard for a comprehensive solution for the problems in Sudan. We want to reach the roadmap that can make the NCP recognise the real crisis in the country, and also recognise the ways of resolving it, which is a cessation of the war.\u201d<\/p>\n

The general-secretary added the abolition of oppressing rules on public freedoms, and the formation of a transitional government, \u201cwhich is agreed with the members of the SRF\u201d.<\/p>\n

He concluded that \u201cthere are clear signals in the 2011 agreement about the comprehensive constitutional process\u201d, hoping Khartoum is serious and willing to agree to this solution for Sudan’s problems.<\/p>\n
