A US refugee relief organisation opened a hospital in Block 8 of Kalma camp for the displaced in South Darfur on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The facility consists of therapeutic, reproductive health, and nutrition departments. Dr Saleh Eisa Mohamed, the Secretary-General of the camp explained to Radio Dabanga that \u201cthe hospital, receives more than 300 cases a day, delivers medicines to the patients and provides services to more than four centres. He explained that the current beneficiaries of the hospital are the newly displaced.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe hospital has a general practitioner, medical assistant, two health assistants, midwives, and a lab technician. This hospital will relieve a lot of the suffering.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Ninth Free Eyes Camp in El Fasher of North Darfur has conducted medical examinations on about 4,000 patients, 100 surgical operations, and distributed 1,700 spectacles. Director Nasreldin Ahmed Mohamed says that arrangements are under way to run 100 surgeries on Friday.<\/p>\n
