Nine civilians were killed and 13 were injured in two separate attacks on Thursday in South Kordofan. The bombings occurred on the same day peace talks began between the Sudanese government and SPLM-N rebels.<\/p>\n
The talks in Addis Ababa, brokered by the AU, aim at ending the 2.5 year old conflict in South Kordofan and Blue Nile.<\/p>\n
A Sudan Su-24 jet dropped 12 bombs at 9am in Um Dullu village, Um Doreen county, Nuba Reports states. Bashir Sahibe (30), a shop owner in Um Dullu, confirmed the bombings to Nuba Reports. Eleven out of the 13 wounded are in serious condition.<\/p>\n
Later on the same day, at 3:40pm, Nuba Reports journalist Ahmed Khatir, witnessed air raids in Tabaniya. The jet dropped nine bombs on the Tabaniya Primary school. The Su-24 jet then circled back, dropping an additional nine bombs in a pasture killing 13 cows.<\/p>\n
Ahmed said the jets were dropping a group of three bombs attached to one parachute. He added that two smaller bombs separated from the parachute and exploded before the larger detonated on impact. One of the bombs in Tabanya did not explode. It appears to be a Russian-made RBK 500kg bomb, Nuba Reports states.<\/p>\n
Earlier this week 27 parachute bombs were dropped within two days in the Buram and Heiban counties of South Kordofan, the report stated.<\/p>\n
