Radio Dabanga has learned that the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) has completed preparations for a comprehensive initiative to resolve the root causes of the Sudanese crisis.<\/p>\n
This follows several days of continuous meetings between SRF commanders. Informed sources with the SRF explained to Radio Dabanga that the initiative, which comes in the aftermath of President Al Bashir\u2019s speech in January, represents an integrated national project for a comprehensive change. It must lead the country to full democracy and sustainable peace.<\/p>\n
The SRF source stressed that the project, scheduled to be announced officially this week, is \u201cgeared for all Sudanese civil society organisations, youth, and all the political forces including the National Congress Party\u201d. However, the sources refused to reveal the contents and details of the initiative until they were officially announced.<\/p>\n
The SRF has denied having any association \u2013 according to recently circulated press reports \u2013 about any contact or dialogue with the Khartoum government. The Deputy Presidents of the SRF, Abdel Wahid El Nur, Minni Minawi and Dr Jibril Ibrahim have all denied any dialogue with the NCP. Minni Minawi has revealed to Radio Dabanga that an initiative by the SRF to the Sudanese government will be announced soon.<\/p>\n
Dr Jibril Ibrahim agreed with the view of Minni Minawi. He told Radio Dabanga there is an effort by the SRF to unify all the opposition forces on one side of the table and the Sudanese government on the other. He said that this effort will be in the interests of the country and will inevitably lead to a real comprehensive change starting with a transitional government.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t know how long a transitional government will be, and it will not necessarily be led by Al Bashir. As the dialogue has not yet begun, we cannot tell who will head the government nor how long the transition period will be.<\/p>\n
Abdel Wahid El Nur joined Minawi and Ibrahim in denying contact or dialogue with the NCP. He told Radio Dabanga that his Sudan Liberation Movement will not accept a transitional government to be headed by Al Bashir or the NCP, underscoring his movement\u2019s commitment to a comprehensive solution.<\/p>\n
Informed sources have reported in the Khartoum press indicating there were was a secret dialogue going on between Sudan\u2019s ruling party and the opposition forces to agree on a transitional authority to be led by President Omar Al Bashir, adding that the secret contacts have gone a long way in the hope that they will culminate in a tentative dialogue conference involving the political forces.<\/p>\n
