Villagers, who fled the attacks of the Rapid Support Forces\u2019 militias on the areas southeast of Nyala on 27 and 28 February, continue to arrive at the South Darfur camps for the displaced. Camp sheiks criticise the delay of assistance by humanitarian organisations for the newly displaced people.<\/p>\n

At El Salam camp for the displaced in Bielel locality, more than 3,000 newly displaced households have been registered by the Sudanese Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC). About 14,000 households have yet not been registered, sheikh Mahjoub Adam Tabaldiya of El Salam camp told Radio Dabanga on Sunday.<\/p>\n

HAC distributed one plate of sorghum per capita to 2,000 households out of those registered. More than 1,000 registered households have not received food so far. Tabaldiya considered the amount of sorghum distributed as \u201cvery small\u201d, and demanded from relief organisations to provide basic services to all the newly displaced \u201cas soon as possible\u201d. \u201cThey are living under the hot sun without shelter, water, or food.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kalma camp<\/strong><\/p>\n

The influx of newly displaced arriving at the Kalma camp in Nyala locality is continuing, Saleh Eisa, the camp\u2019s Secretary-General, reported to Radio Dabanga. \u201c1,157 families arrived on Friday and Saturday. The American Refugee Committee has registered 5,700  children aged between 1 and 5 years old.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eisa also complained about the inaction of humanitarian organisations towards the newly displaced persons. \u201cThey are living in the open, without water, food, shelter, or medicines.\u201d He reiterated his appeal to the organisations to \u201caccelerate the provision of relief\u201d.<\/p>\n

Otash camp<\/strong><\/p>\n

The spokesman for the Otash camp in Nyala locality told Radio Dabanga that 227 newly displaced families reached the camp during the last four days. \u201c150 families arrived on Thursday, 22 on Friday, 25 on Saturday and 30 families on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe International Organisation for Migration began on Sunday to register the newly displaced at the camp. Yet, HAC or humanitarian organisations have not so far provided aid or relief to the victims.\u201d<\/p>\n
