The population of the Kalma camp for the displaced in South Darfur have notified the Deputy Head of Unamid of their adherence to a comprehensive solution for Sudan during his visit to the camp on Thursday. Diseases are breaking out among the newly displaced in the camp.<\/p>\n

Dr Saleh Eisa, the Secretary-General of Kalma camp told Radio Dabanga that the Deputy Head of Unamid, Joseph Motta, visited the camp on Thursday. In a meeting with the camp leaders, they stressed their adherence to a comprehensive solution for Sudan, as proposed by the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF, an alliance of armed movements and opposition groups). They also appealed to Unamid to stop the militias\u2019 assaults on citizens and the displaced.<\/p>\n

Diarrhoea and vomiting <\/strong><\/p>\n

The spokesman for the newly displaced  in Kalma camp reported the outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting among children and the elderly who fled the attacks by the \u201cRapid Support militias led by Himeti\u201d on the areas southeast of Nyala on 27 and 28 February.<\/p>\n

He explained to Radio Dabanga that \u201cthe outbreak of the diseases is the result of stress, moving from one environment to another, and not eating food for a long time. The problem is that the health centre of the camp does not have enough medicines to treat the camp population, especially with these huge numbers of new arrivals.\u201d<\/p>\n

He called on the organisations working in the camp to accelerate the registration of all newly displaced people, and provide them with water, food, and medicines.<\/p>\n
