Pro-government militiamen killed a 20-year-old man in Nyala, South Darfur, on Thursday after they had kidnapped him since 26 February and demanded a ransom of SDG100,000.<\/p>\n

Adam Yousif, a relative of the deceased, told Radio Dabanga that Mohamed Suleiman Ibrahim was kidnapped by pro-government militias from the cattle market last month along with his cousin. The militiamen released the cousin but demanded a ransom of SDG100,000 (<\/span>$17,487) in return for the release of 20-year-old Ibrahim, who was a student at the University of Nyala in South Darfur.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yousif said they had started negotiating with the kidnappers and were able to reduce the ransom to SDG70,000 (<\/span>$12,241). And although they had responded to the kidnappers to pay the amount, they were betrayed, and found out that Ibrahim was killed with several shots in the head and chest. After killing him, the kidnappers threw his body in the area north of Nyala.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yousif added that they know the culprits and have handed their names to the police in Nyala.,<\/p>\n
