The newly displaced people in El Salam camp for the displaced in South Darfur protested on Monday against the slow pace of their registration.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Mahjoub Adam Tabaldiya of El Salam Camp, Bielel locality in South Darfur, reported to Radio Dabanga that thousands of newly displaced persons are still waiting to be registered. The new arrivals had fled militia attacks on their villages southeast of Nyala on 27 and 28 February.<\/p>\n

A number of newly displaced gathered in front of the offices of the Sudanese Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) on Monday, in protest against the slow registration process and the small number of registration employees deployed. The registration is carried out by the International Organisation for Migration.<\/p>\n

Tabaldiya accused HAC of causing the delay. \u201cThe newly displaced are living in the open without shelter, food, water, or medicines for more than two weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n
