At least five people were killed and 15 others injured by bombardments on areas in Mellit locality, North Darfur, on Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n

The Sudanese Air Force heavily bombarded the areas of Malawi, Um Sidir, and Goz Tuga, west of Mellit town, a villager who fled the area of Malawi told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

\u201dAntonov and Sukhoi jet fighters attacked the villages of Dara Kharif and Nagat in the area of Malawi on Thursday afternoon with more than 17 bombs. Three villagers were killed and nine injured. A large number of livestock was killed too.\u201d<\/p>\n

The villager said that the jet fighters continued their bombardments at about 10am on Friday morning, this time bombing the areas of Um Sidir and Goz Tuga. \u201cThe bombing did not stop until late in the afternoon. Yusif Korfu and Dosa Idris were killed, and many others were wounded. The water wells in the area were destroyed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201dMost of the people of the area fled to the neighbouring valleys and mountains,\u201d the source added. He appealed to the UN Security Council and human rights organisations to intervene and stop the \u201cSudanese government\u2019s air strikes, and to bring the perpetrators of these crimes to justice\u201d.<\/p>\n
