A number of people were killed and others wounded in clashes between members of the Abbala and Beni Hussein tribes in El Sareif Beni Hussein locality, North Darfur, on Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n
Residents in the area told Radio Dabanga that fierce fighting between the two tribes broke out in the area of Um Jarwa on Saturday and Sunday. \u201cAt least five people from both sides died. Others were injured, and dozens of livestock were killed. \u201cThe fighting erupted between large groups of Abbala and Beni Hussein tribesmen who had gathered in the area, after both sides had been stealing livestock from each other.\u201d<\/p>\n
The roads between Beni Hussein and Saraf Umra, and El Sareif Beni Hussein and Kabkabyia have been closed for more than two weeks, the residents added. They called upon the authorities and the native administration to intervene as soon as possible in order to prevent any new clashes.<\/p>\n
The humanitarian and health situation in El Sareif Beni Hussein is extremely difficult, the residents said. \u201cWe suffer from a lack of food supply, consumer goods, and medicines.\u201d They called on the authorities to speed up the opening of the closed roads and the delivery of aid to the affected.<\/p>\n
