More villagers, who had fled the widespread militia attacks on their villages in Kutum locality, North Darfur, in March, are pouring into Kassab camp for the displaced.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, sheikh Taher Ismail, the head of the Kassab camp, reported that 26 newly displaced families, consisting of 161 people arrived to the camp on Wednesday. More than 50 other families arrived on Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe majority of them are women and children. They arrived at the camp on foot and on donkeys, in an entirely exhausted state.\u201d<\/p>\n

The newly displaced people told the sheikh that they had fled from Wadi El Naam, northeast of Kutum town, to the neighbouring mountains and valleys during the attacks by the Sudanese security commanded Rapid Support Forces on their areas last month.<\/p>\n

One of the villagers who arrived at Kassab camp told Radio Dabanga on Sunday that there are still thousands of people hiding in wilderness in the north of Kutum locality. \u201cPeople have died, and diseases are spreading among them, in particular diarrhoea, measles, and whooping cough.\u201d<\/p>\n
