The residents of El Shajara district in southern Khartoum went to the street in a mass demonstration on Friday.<\/p>\n

They protested against the drinking water crisis the district is suffering from since two months. The demonstrators chanted slogans such as \u201cWater, water! We have paid bills for nothing but corruption,\u201d and \u201cLiving between two Niles, and still thirsty\u201d.<\/p>\n

A resident of El Shajara explained to Radio Dabanga that the network supplying the district with water was recently diverted to the Yathrib district, \u201cwhere affiliates of the ruling party reside\u201d.<\/p>\n

The director of the Water Wells Corporation in southern Khartoum promised the demonstrators to dig new wells for the district.<\/p>\n
