Security forces detained two men from their home in Abu Jubaiha town, South Kordofan, on Thursday.<\/p>\n
\u201cA heavily armed security force suddenly stormed our house in Abu Jubaiha on Thursday. They threatened the family, and seized my two brothers, Khalil and Mustafa, without giving a reason\u201d, Rashida Ibrahim Mohamed Ali told Radio Dabanga. \u201cThey were taken to an unknown destination. We are all very concerned over their fate, as we do not know their whereabouts, and why they were detained,\u201d the sister said. On behalf of their family, she demanded the immediate release of the two brothers.<\/p>\n
Citizens of Abu Jubaiha have demanded the departure of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), sent to South Kordofan by the National Security and Intelligence Service (NISS) to \u201cfight the insurgency in the state\u201d. Slogans written on the walls of the guest house where the Second Vice-President Hassabo Mohamed Abdel Rahman resided on Wednesday, read \u201cThe RSF are foreign mercenaries\u201d, and \u201cFree Imam El Sadig El Mahdi\u201d.<\/p>\n
National Umma Party leader and Imam, El Sadig El Mahdi was detained in Khartoum on 17 May on charges of \u201cdisrespecting the prestige of the state, breaching public peace, undermining the constitutional order, and calling for violently opposing public authority\u201d. El Mahdi had accused the NISS commanded RSF militias of committing war crimes, recruiting non-Sudanese nationals, and operating beyond the scope of the regular armed troops.<\/p>\n
