Two displaced died, and nine others were injured in an attack on Ronga Tas camp in Azum Locality, Central Darfur.<\/p>\n
The attack was allegedly carried out by members of the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM), however the Movement has strongly denied any involvement.<\/p>\n
Ronga Tas camp Sheikh Adam Hussein told Radio Dabanga that the attack was launched early on Wednesday morning. Hussein said the attack, which killed Mohamed Adam Ahmed Mohamed (23) and Haroun Abdelbashir Adam (43) ,was led by Abdel Jabar Saleh Kumba, Abdel Karim Radwan, Adam Arbab also known as Wad Motor, Adam Gash, and Haroun Ismail Dombo.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Hussein said the attack was because of the displaced and camp administrators rejecting \u201cmodel villages\u201d as suggested by the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) during a workshop. The displaced armed themselves with spears, swords and knives, and forced the attackers out of the camp. The attackers, who used the road between Zalingei and El Geneina, numbered about 300 on horses and camels, backed by three Land Cruisers mounded with Duschka machineguns.<\/p>\n
The sheikhs of camp Ronga Tas place responsibility for the attack on the LJM, as well as Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) Chairman Tijani Sese personally. \u201cThe inhabitants of Ronga Tas flatly refuse any partial solutions to peace such as the DDPD \u2018model villages\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sheikh Hussain said that the situation at the camp is still tense. \u201cThe displaced are on high alert in fear of a second attack. He said that wounded, some with serious head injuries, were transferred to Zalingei hospital. They are Hawa Ismail Ibrahim (28) , Radwan Yusuf Suleiman (14), Mohammed Juma Mohammed nicknamed Klos (22), Kaltuma Eisa Idris (50), Fatima Abakr Ahmed (45), Ibrahim Mohamed Adam (30) , Mohamed Adam Ismail (49), and Sadig Abakr Mohammad (42).<\/p>\n
Denial<\/strong><\/p>\n The DRA and LJM strongly deny any involvement in the attack, according Mohamed Ismail, Director of the Office of Coordination of the DRA and leader of the LJM. He told Radio Dabanga that there has been no attempt by the DRA or LJM to forcibly impose the terms of the DDPD on the displaced. He also denied that the DRA or LJM have any link to a workshop in Ronga Tas.<\/p>\n He expressed astonishment at the accusations of the Sheiks . \u201cThere was no coordination between the HAC and organisations that came to the workshop with the LJM,\u201d saying that all the circumstances of the incident and those behind it will be investigated.<\/p>\n File photo<\/em><\/p>\n
