The Governor of Central Darfur and the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) have denied any connection between government forces and the incidents in Ronga Tas camp for the displaced on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Governor of Central Darfur, Jaafar Abdel Hakam Ishag, confirmed to Radio Dabanga on Friday that two residents of the Ronga Tas camp for the displaced were killed, and nine others injured on Wednesday. He denied, however, that the killing and wounding were the result of an attack by government forces. According to the Governor, a fight had erupted between the displaced of the camp themselves.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe displaced differed from opinion about a discussion meeting organised by a Qatari charity organisation, and the dispute became violent. The opposing parties clashed using knives, batons, and guns. One displaced died on the spot, and another at the hospital of Zalingei. The anti-riot police intervened, and managed to halt the fighting.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Governor added that a committee of camp elders had been formed to investigate and settle the dispute between the parties.<\/p>\n

The director of the DRA Coordination and Follow-Up Office in Central Darfur, Mohamed Ismail, strongly denied any connection between the LJM or the DRA with the incident in the Ronga Tas camp.<\/p>\n

However, the head of the Ronga Tas camp sheikhs told Radio Dabanga that the two displaced were shot dead in an attack by elements of the former rebel Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) in the early hours of Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

The LJM signed the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) in May 2011. The leader of the LJM, Tijani Sese, became the head of the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA), when it was established in December 2011.<\/p>\n

The sheikh said that the attack happened after the residents and administration of the camp had rejected a discussion meeting on the DDPD implementation.<\/p>\n
