Militia elements killed at least eleven citizens during attacks on rural villages in the area of Korma in El Fasher locality, North Darfur, on Wednesday. They have also wounded five people and looted a local market and the livestock belonging to their victims. Villagers have not yet returned from their shelters in the surrounding valleys.<\/p>\n

A witness amongst the fleeing residents of Yalma revealed to Radio Dabanga that the pro-government militiamen were driving in three vehicles, and others on the backs of camels and horses, and that they were led by Badr Abdel Rahman Abu Kinesh during their attack on the town in the afternoon. They killed Faki Ishag (70 years), Sheikh Adam (60 years), Awi (45 years), Hasina (25 years), and Aboud Bashom.<\/p>\n

Five people were injured; four of them were brought to the UN-AU Mission in Darfur’s (Unamid) base in Korma, about 60km west of El Fasher. The fifth was transferred to the Unamid headquarters in El Fasher on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Today (Friday), another eyewitness in Yalma told Radio Dabanga that the residents had found two corpses in their village, raising the total number of dead in Yalma to seven.<\/p>\n

Sidou residents killed, arrested<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the sources added that after the attack on Wednesday, the militia elements moved towards the neighbouring Sidou, where they killed three butchers, wounded others, and arrested three persons. Afterwards, Sidou was also looted.<\/p>\n

The butchers killed in the attack were Idris, Mohamedein, and Yousif. The arrested residents are Mohieldin Ishag and Abakar Ishag, two brothers, and a driver nicknamed Dabanga.<\/p>\n

The militiamen also struck on Thursday, between Amarjadeed and Mugabil in the area of Korma. They killed a citizen and looted his cattle.<\/p>\n

The Yalma resident reported today that a number of people is still missing. Amongst them are seven children, five women, and five youth. \u201cVillagers have fled to nearby valleys and forests, and have not returned until now.\u201d<\/p>\n
