(UPDATED) A merchant was abducted in Kass, South Darfur, on Thursday. On Saturday, a farmer was kidnapped at his farmland near Kass. Passengers of a commercial vehicle in Central Darfur were robbed on Thursday. In West Darfur, gunmen attacked the vehicle of an Omda on Tuesday. Three people were killed, and four others wounded.<\/p>\n
The spokesman for the Gimir tribe, Abakar El Tom, told Radio Dabanga from Kass town that nine militiamen in a Land Cruiser abducted trader Ahmed Mohamed Ismail on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen Ismail left the mosque after his evening prayers, the government-backed gunmen seized him and took him to an unknown destination. On Friday, the kidnappers phoned one of Ismail\u2019s relatives, demanding a ransom for the merchant\u2019s release. They did not specify the amount.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFarmer Osman Bashari (52) was kidnapped at his farmland in the area of Gimeiza Kamra, north of Kass town, on Saturday. He was taken to an unknown destination\u201d, one of his relatives who witnessed the incident, told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe two gunmen wanted to steal his motorcycle, but when they found it empty of fuel, they seized Bashari himself.\u201d<\/p>\n
Robbery<\/strong><\/p>\n In Central Darfur, militiamen robbed the passengers of a commercial vehicle en route from Zalingei to Nierteti on Thursday.<\/p>\n One of the victims told Radio Dabanga that Janjaweed<\/em> on horses and on motorcycles attacked them on Thursday afternoon, when they were pushing the vehicle, stuck in the mud after heavy rains. \u201cThe gunmen beat and lashed us before robbing us of our money, mobile phones, and all our luggage, worth hundreds of pounds.\u201d<\/p>\n Omda targeted<\/strong><\/p>\n On Tuesday, three men were killed, and four injured, when gunmen fired at the vehicle of Omda Mujib El Rahman Mohamed Yagoub Rizig in the area of \u200b\u200bFarigta, about 20km from El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State.<\/p>\n \u201cThe attackers targeted the Omda,\u201d a listener in Farigta told Radio Dabanga \u201cwho was not in the vehicle. Three of the Omda\u2019s relatives died instantly, Mohamed Ahmed Adam, Abdel Latif Mohamed Adam Nurein, and Abdel Aziz Khamis Ismail.
