About 2,400 people in South Kordofan, who fled from the fighting between Sudanese government forces and the rebels, are in need of humanitarian aid. Most of them have come from El Abassiya and Rashad localities, and Abu Kershola, north-east of state capital Kadugli, Sudan’s Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) reported.<\/p>\n

Several areas west of Rashad town were bombed by the Sudanese Air Force from 13 to 18 April this year, which resulted in waves of displacement. According to HAC and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), as of 27 April an estimated 10,000 people were seeking refuge there from clashes between the Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) and the Sudanese army and its paramilitary forces<\/p>\n

South Sudanese refugees<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, 152 South Sudanese refugees have arrived in El Leri in Talodi locality, in the southern part of South Kordofan, according to HAC. 680 South Sudanese who fled the conflict in Unity state have arrived in Kharasan in Keilak locality, West Kordofan. Half of these refugees are children, the HAC and the IOM reported.<\/p>\n

The refugees are in urgent need of food, emergency household items, and health services, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) described in its latest humanitarian bulletin.<\/p>\n

As of 16 July, about 86,400 South Sudanese refugees have sought refuge in Sudan since the armed conflict between the government\u2019s army and troops loyal to former Vice-President Riek Machar began on 15 December 2013, according to the UN refugee agency (UNHCR).<\/p>\n
