Five people were abducted by gunmen in Kutum locality, North Darfur, in two separate incidents on Thursday and Sunday.<\/p>\n

Omda Ahmed Ishag was kidnapped from inside his house in Kafi village near Kutum town, by gunmen in two Land Cruisers, on Thursday, a listener from the village told Radio Dabanga. \u201cWe have not heard from the kidnappers since.\u201d<\/p>\n

Four others were abducted on Sunday from Abdel Shakur village, north of Kutum.<\/p>\n

\u201cA group of militiamen stormed Abdel Shakur village under the pretext of searching for stolen camels. They captured four men, and beat them severely in front of all the people\u201d, a villager reported to Radio Dabanga from Abdel Shakur.<\/p>\n

\u201cThree other men were beaten, but were not taken. The abducted are Mohamed Ismail Mohamed Hassan, Ahmed Ismail Mohamed Hussein, Abdul Rahman Haroun Ibrahim, and Ishag Mohamed Idris.\u201d<\/p>\n

The villager said that the kidnappers took the four men as \u201ccompensation for the allegedly stolen camels\u201d.<\/p>\n
