The Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) has denied the announcement by a Sudanese government official that the stalled Addis Ababa peace negotiations between the Sudanese government and the SPLM-N on South Kordofan and the Blue Nile will resume on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis news is entirely incorrect\u201d, Yasir Arman, SPLM-N\u2019s Secretary-General, and foreign Relations Secretary of the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF, an alliance of the main rebel movements, including the SPLM-N) told Radio Dabanga. \u201cThe Sudanese regime wants to blind the people. Besides, it is seeking to break through its isolated position.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ruling National Congress Party was the party that left the negotiation table. They opted instead for a military solution, which has entirely failed. As for the SPLM-N, we have left the stage of a partial solution, for the Blue Nile and South Kordofan only, behind us, and are cooperating with the opposition forces for a comprehensive solution for all the crises in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arman said that the signatories of the Paris Declaration, the SRF and the National Umma Party (NUP), received an invitation to meet with the chairman of the mediation team, Thabo Mbeki, and the Ethiopian Prime Minister in Addis Ababa next week. \u201cThis meeting can be considered as part of Mbeki’s consultations with political forces in Khartoum on the Paris Declaration.\u201d<\/p>\n

SPLM-N\u2019s Secretary-General welcomed these consultations. He reiterated that the NUP and the SRF in the Declaration proposed to cease hostilities in the war-torn regions for a period of two months. \u201cThe SRF is prepared to stop the wars, from Darfur to the Blue Nile, if this leads to real peace, and a just and comprehensive democratic transformation.\u201d<\/p>\n
