Militiamen robbed residents of three camps for the displaced in Tawila locality, North Darfur, on Monday morning. On the same day, armed robbers shot a school teacher, and on Sunday, three shops of the Northern Nierteti camp in Central Darfur were plundered.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a resident of Rwanda camp said that \u201cgovernment-backed militiamen on camels and horses stormed the camp at about 1 am on Monday\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey robbed a number of displaced of their property, and did the same in the adjacent Tibra and Dali camps. They also seized all the goods loaded on the vehicle of trader Adam Idris Ishag,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n
Motorcycle<\/strong><\/p>\n In Kutum locality, North Darfur, five gunmen intercepted secondary school teacher Siddig Ahmed Ahmedou, when he was on his way from Kutum town to his village in the area of Kenin.<\/p>\n \u201cThey demanded his motorcycle. When he refused to hand it over, they shot him in his feet,\u201d an eyewitness told Radio Dabanga. \u201cThey then beat him with batons before robbing him of his motorcycle, SDG1,000 ($173), and the new clothes he bought for his children at Kutum market.\u201d<\/p>\n Ahmedou had to be transferred to Kutum hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n Nierteti<\/strong><\/p>\n On Sunday evening, gunmen pillaged three shops at the Northern Nierteti camp for the displaced in Central Darfur. \u201cThey stole about SDG3,000 ($518), clothes, sugar, and tea, after which they fled, firing into the air,\u201d a camp elder told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n File photo<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
