The Faculty of Sharia and Law of the University of the Holy Koran in Port Sudan expelled four Darfuri students on Sunday. The students were accused of instigating riots.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a student from the Holy Koran University in Port Sudan said that the expelled students had submitted a memorandum to the University\u2019s administration in March. In the memo, presented on behalf of the Association of Darfur Students, they demanded that an Islamist student should be held accountable for his abuse of Darfuri students.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn response to the memo, the university administration pledged to take measures against the Islamist, but the reverse happened. The four students who raised the memo were expelled. Salaheldin El Nur Haroun and Suleiman Younes Ahmed Bushara were suspended for two years, Mudasir Abakar Mohamed Adam and Ismail Ahmed Musa for one year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The student activist appealed to the University\u2019s administration to reconsider its decision, as \u201cthey have not violated any regulations, or committed any crime\u201d.<\/p>\n
