Three people were killed, and two others injured in the area of Deleig in Wadi Salih locality, Central Darfur, on Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn Saturday morning, elements of a government-backed militia opened fire on a woman who was eight months pregnant, as well as her two sons. They were working on a farm in the area of Bugla, about 2 km south of Deleig town,\u201d a sheikh of the Deleig camp for the displaced informed Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe mother, Halima Saleh Suleiman, and her son Hassan Mohamed Bakhit, a secondary school student, were killed instantly. The other son managed to seize the gun of one of the assailants. With the help of others, he handed the murderers to the police in Deleig town.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the camp residents heard that the police were going to release the perpetrators, they went to the police station to protest,\u201d the camp sheikh related. \u201cA number of displaced stormed the police station. They killed the gunman who had shot Suleiman and her son, and wounded one of the police officers, Mohamed Hussein. Asha Mohamed Khamis, a displaced woman, was injured too.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter autopsy, it turned out that Suleiman had been pregnant with twins.\u201d<\/p>\n
After the incident, the market of Deleig, schools, and government facilities closed their doors. They were still closed on Sunday, and people stayed at home out of fear for revenge attacks. Transport to and from Deleig town halted too.<\/p>\n
The Deleig camp elder said that the commissioner of Wadi Salih locality requested additional forces to protect the area. <\/p>\n
