Armed herders in Kabkabiya locality in North Darfur have imposed a levy of two mids of grain on each farmer after harvest. Unless the farmers comply, the herders threaten to allow their livestock and camels to graze on the farms.<\/p>\n
A farmer told Radio Dabanga that the militias imposed that amount on all farms to be paid after the harvest since the beginning of November. He added that they appointed delegates to collect the grain from the farmers after winnowing. The farmer added that the areas in which these amounts are imposed are mostly south-west of Kabkabiya including Jauri, Namou, Sanga, Malga, Filding and Mur. The farmer appealed to the authorities to help them harvest their crops.<\/p>\n
In North and Central Darfur, pro-government militiamen attacked and seriously injured farmers on their farms. Hussein Adam Abdullah was injured at Born Karonga area east of Turr in Central Darfur.<\/p>\n
In Birkat Seira, militiamen shot Ahamdai Mohamed Ahamdai and Bashir Mohammed and severely injured them. They were taken to hospitals for treatment.<\/p>\n
Radio Dabanga receives many complaints from farmers about attacks by armed pro-government herders entering of their camels and livestock by force of arms onto the farms.<\/p>\n
