One child was killed, and three other children were injured when the Sudanese Air Force bombed areas in El Kurmuk locality, Blue Nile state, on Sunday. Large tracts of pasture and farmlands were burned as well, the rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North reported.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, Arno <\/span>Ngutulu Lodi, spokesman for the rebel SPLA-N, claimed that an Antonov carried out an air raid on Yabus, southern Blue Nile, at 11 am. The Sudanese airplane dropped four bombs on the area, resulting in the death of 13-year-old Musa Ahmed. Three children sustained injuries, Lodi said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Antonov also dropped two bombs on the northerly Ura village, two bombs on Muva, and bombed Mayak. \u201cThe bombardments did not cause any casualties, but the explosions burned down large areas of farmland and pastures,\u201d the military spokesman reported, saying the residents are \u201cterrified\u201d.<\/p>\n

Lodi said he expects the systematic bombing of unarmed civilians by the Sudanese government to continue, as well as creating obstacles in order to block the arrival of humanitarian aid to the residents. November marks the start of the dry season, and ground battles between Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the SPLA-N are beginning.<\/p>\n

The border states of South Kordofan and Blue Nile state have been the scene of violent conflict since June 2011 when the SPLA-N launched an insurgency against the Khartoum regime.<\/span><\/p>\n

Peace negotiations between the Sudanese government and the SPLM-N on the conflict in South Kordofan and Blue Nile in Addis Ababa are currently adjourned, but the parties close in on concluding an agreement, Thabo Mbeki, the head of the brokering African Union panel, Thabo Mbeki, said on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n
