The Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) announced that its forces took control of three military garrisons near Kadugli, capital of South Kordofan, today. On Wednesday, they killed five government troops in South Kordofan in an attack on a convoy on the Kadugli-Delling road. In Central Darfur, more than 20 government troops and eight rebels were reportedly killed in an attack by rebels on a military convoy on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

At about 5 pm today (Thursday), SPLM-N forces took control of the military garrisons of Daldako and Roseiris, located 12 km northeast of Kadugli, rebel spokesman Arnu Ngutulu Lodi told Radio Dabanga from the area this evening. \u201cDuring the battle that lasted three hours, we seized a T-55 tank and a Ural cannon. Another T-55 was destroyed.\u201d<\/p>\n

In simultaneous battle, 7 km west of Kadugli, the rebels took control of the Jebel Nimir garrison. \u201cWe were able to seize cannons, and a variety of other weapons,\u201d the SPLM-N spokesman said.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the rebel fighters will respond to any attack on civilians in the Nuba Mountains, the Blue Nile, and in Darfur.<\/p>\n

In a press release on Wednesday, Lodi reported that SPLM-N forces attacked a number of army, militia and security guards of a commercial convoy, en route from Kadugli to Delling that morning. Four army soldiers were killed, as well as a member of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police (known as Abu Tira). The rebels seized a number of military vehicles, and large quantities of weapons and supplies.<\/p>\n

The governor of South Kordofan state, Adam El Faki, confirmed the attack on the convoy in a press statement on Wednesday evening, saying that five government troops were killed. He noted that the traffic on the Kadugli-Delling road \u201creturned to normal\u201d.<\/p>\n

Darfur<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Tuesday, rebels of the Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Abdel Wahid El Nur (SLM-AW), attacked a military convoy in the area east of Guldo in Nierteti locality, Central Darfur.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe convoy was on its way from Zalingei to Rokoro,\u201d SLM-AW spokesman Mustafa Tambour told Radio Dabanga. \u201c23 army and militia forces were killed, while we lost eight of our combatants. Three Land Cruisers and a lorry with military supplies were destroyed. We managed to seize large quantities of weapons, ammunition, and supplies.\u201d<\/p>\n
