A group of gunmen gang raped a displaced woman near the town of Kass in South Darfur on Sunday afternoon. In Kass locality, 17 people are ‘missing’ for more than a month.<\/p>\n

The woman, several months pregnant, and her husband were intercepted by militiamen in the area of Feras, in the vicinity of Kass town, the head of Women Issues of the Kass camps reported to Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

“They beat the husband with their whips, seriously injuring him, before they raped the woman alternately. Both were taken to a hospital in Kass. The doctors there found that the foetus had died.”<\/p>\n

'Missing'<\/strong><\/p>\n

The source also reported that since more than a month, a total of 17 people have disappeared Kass locality. “Their families are extremely worried about their fate.”<\/p>\n

She referred to the 12 displaced who “were recently held by security forces, under the pretext of belonging to armed movements”, and appealed to humanitarian and human rights organisations to intervene, and “find out where the 17 missing people are”.<\/p>\n
