The Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Abdel Wahid El Nur (SLM-AW) announced that its fighters killed 15 government forces near Tura, west of Rokoro in Central Darfur, on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The rebels clashed with a military convoy en route from Zalingei, capital of Central Darfur, to Rokoro. They killed 15 army soldiers and militiamen, among them three officers, SLM-AW\u2019s military spokesman, Mustafa Tambour, told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

He added that the three officers are Col. Ahmed Rehan Azrag and Lt. Col. Adel Abdelrahim Ibrahim, both of the paramilitary Border Guards, and Lt. Abu Zeid Ali Hasan. \u201cWe also seized seven Land Cruisers, loaded with guns, three large Renault vehicles, and other weapons and ammunition.\u201d<\/p>\n

People in the area heard heavy shooting on Saturday and Sunday in those areas, but could not provide details to Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

The rebel spokesman added that after the battle, the Sudanese Air Force dropped 17 bombs on the area near the villages of Silu, Rawaga, and Hillet Fadul. \u201cThe villagers fled to the nearby valleys, a number of livestock was killed, and vast tracts of farmland were set on fire.\u201d<\/p>\n
