The Sudanese Air Force bombed the area northeast of Golo in Rokoro locality, Central Darfur, on Monday, following battles between rebel forces and government troops in the area last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cBombardments by Antonov fighter aircraft began about 5 am and continued until noon,\u201d a villager reported to Radio Dabanga. \u201cThe air strikes targeted the villages of Kormuk, Debbat Naira, and Silu, and the lemon plantations northeast of Golo. A number of houses were set ablaze. We ran for their lives, seeking refuge in the nearby valleys and mountain caves.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last week, combatants of the Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Abdel Wahid El Nur (SLM-AW), launched attacks on government forces and allied militias stationed in the area west of Jebel Marra, in Rokoro locality, and on military convoys in the area. They reportedly killed dozens of government forces, and seized military vehicles, weapons, and ammunition.<\/p>\n
