Teachers in Red Sea state, eastern Sudan, say they will file an official complaint against the state government if will not cease and desist from deducting amounts from their salaries without their consent.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Radio Dabanga, Badreldin Abdelkarim, member of the Committee in Defence of the Teachers, explained that the teachers agreed on the reduction of our salaries for a period of six months, “in response to the Red Sea authorities call for alleged support of the Teachers Union, and a forestation project in the state, more than ten years ago. The state government, however, continued reducing our salaries until now.”<\/p>\n
In a statement issued by the Committee on Tuesday, the teachers assert that their salaries were reduced without notifying teachers. They have given the Red Sea authorities a deadline of one month to cancel the measure.<\/p>\n
