In militia attacks on commercial lorries in North and South Darfur on Thursday, six people were injured. In East Darfur, two passengers died, and 17 others sustained injuries when the lorry they were in overturned.<\/p>\n

In the area of Khartoum Jadeed, west of Kabkabiya in North Darfur, militiamen opened fire on a Nissan lorry en route from Kabkabiya to Khartoum Jadeed.<\/p>\n

“We were returning from the market of Kabkabiya,” one of the passengers explained to Dabanga. “The driver, El Tayeb Abdelaziz, the omda of Khartoum Jadeed, Zakariya Musa, and Khadija Juma Kundi were hit by bullets. They were taken to Kabkabiya hospital for treatment.”<\/p>\n

Traders and displaced who returned from the market in the area between Sergeila and Jidad in Gireida locality, South Darfur, were also ambushed. Two women passengers, Mastura Yahya Adam and Marwa Idris Hassan, were injured.<\/p>\n

An eyewitness told Dabanga that the armed robbers stripped the passengers of their money, mobile phones, their luggage, as well as their clothes.<\/p>\n

He said that both the police at Sergeila and Gireida refused to report the incident on the grounds that the incident does not fall under their jurisdiction.<\/p>\n

In Asalaya locality in East Darfur, a commercial vehicle, on its way from Asalaya market to Yassin locality, overturned.<\/p>\n

“Two people died and 17 others were wounded,” one of the passengers told Dabanga. “Seven of them sustained serious injuries.”<\/p>\n
