The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) reportedly attacked an army garrison in Bau locality, Blue Nile state on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, the military spokesman for the SPLM-N, announced in a statement that the “SPLM-N second front in Blue Nile state raided the garrison of El Gabanit, 45 km southwest of Ed Damazin yesterday morning.”<\/p>\n
Eight army soldiers were killed, and four SPLM-N combatants were injured. The rest of the army forces fled to Blue Nile state capital Ed Damazin, he reported, adding that the rebels also seized a large quantity of weapons and ammunition.<\/p>\n
Lodi stressed that “in support of the Leave! Campaign, the rebel fighters will continue to disarm and destroy the capacity of the regular forces, which protect the genocidal regime, responsible for ethnic cleansing and war crimes”.<\/p>\n
The Sudanese opposition parties allied in the National Consensus Forces and the National Umma Party launched the anti-election Leave! campaign in the first week of February, in which they intend to collect as many signatures as possible to oust incumbent President Omar Al Bashir. All public Leave! meetings, organised in various towns in the country, were suppressed<\/a> by security officers.<\/p>\n
