Dozens of Fellata and Salamat tribesmen were killed and wounded in Tullus locality, South Darfur, over the weekend. In Mellit locality, North Darfur, Ziyadiya militants attacked Berti tribesmen in the area of Banama today.<\/p>\n
The Fellata-Salamat clashes broke out in the area of Ed Saadoun on Saturday, after some Salamat stole a number of cows from Fellata herders. The fighting continued today, Mohamed Yaqoub, a Fellata leader, told Radio Dabanga from Tullus.<\/p>\n
At least 16 injured were taken to Tullus hospital. The more critically wounded were transferred to a hospital in Nyala, capital of South Darfur.<\/p>\n
Yaqoub called on the warring tribesmen to “stop the violence, and respect the peace treaties recently agreed on by their leaders”.<\/p>\n
Ziyadiya-Berti fighting<\/strong><\/p>\n Ziyadiya launched a new attack on Berti in the area of Banama today, a listener reported to Radio Dabanga. He could not give any details so far.<\/p>\n On Thursday, at least 28 people were killed in an attack by Ziyadiya on the south-eastern districts of Mellit, inhabited by people of the Berti tribe. Reportedly, 13 Berti, among them an omda, and six Ziyadiya tribesmen were killed. At least ten people sustained injuries.<\/p>\n It was the second Ziyadiya attack on Berti last week. After some Berti breached a truce between the two tribes, a joint Ziyadiya force of paramilitary Border Guards and Central Reserve Police raided the village of Maksi on Tuesday. They plundered shops, and torched a number of houses. Nine people were killed.<\/p>\n
